First of all, hello. I am Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cem BAYRAKTAR, a specialist in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. Let’s take a brief look together at brow and midface lift procedures.
As we age, certain natural changes occur in our face, a process referred to as "aging physiology." Some of these changes include sagging and puffiness in the upper and lower eyelids, drooping of the eyebrows, a reduction in the prominence of the cheekbones and jawline, increased sagging and creases in the nasolabial region, and a loss of volume in the cheeks, combined with the downward displacement of subcutaneous fat tissue due to gravity, leading to depressions in the midface area.
The endoscopic brow and midface lift is an effective and long-lasting surgical procedure that can be performed simultaneously. Since it is carried out through incisions hidden within the hairline using a camera, it does not leave visible scars. Compared to larger incisions, it carries a lower risk of numbness in the skin. The fundamental principle of this procedure involves repositioning and suspending the loosened and sagging areas along with the thin muscle layer beneath the skin and, if necessary, removing excess skin. As with all surgeries performed with the aid of an endoscope, this procedure is less traumatic than conventional methods, leading to a faster recovery period and relatively less swelling. The operation is performed under general anesthesia, and the patient is typically discharged after an overnight hospital stay.
This procedure can be performed alone or combined with other surgeries such as rhinoplasty (nose aesthetics) or blepharoplasty (eyelid aesthetics). By repositioning the sagging cheek volume over the cheekbones, a desired youthful and firmer appearance can be achieved. While similar procedures can be performed without surgery using barbed threads, such as the French lift, under local anesthesia, their effects are significantly less durable than surgery. In most cases, these non-surgical methods provide only minimal and temporary lifting effects. Additionally, the barbed threads gradually dissolve over time and lose their suspending properties, requiring repeated procedures at regular intervals.
For a longer-lasting and more permanent solution with less trauma, we particularly recommend endoscopic brow and midface lift surgery for middle-aged patients.
Wishing you all healthy and beautiful days…
