Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Protruding ear deformity is a condition characterized by the ears sticking out prominently and being more noticeable than normal. This condition is often congenital and related to genetic factors. Protruding ear deformity can lead to self-esteem and body image issues in children and may also cause hearing problems.
The primary goal of ear surgery is to correct the existing deformity and reposition the ears to be more in line with the shape of the head. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia and lasts about 1-2 hours. For ear surgery, the ears must be 90% developed, so the recommended age for the procedure is 5-6 years. Performing the surgery before starting school is crucial for the child's psychological well-being, although the operation can be done at any age.
After the procedure, patients' ears are wrapped with a bandage, which keeps them stable for several days. It is normal to experience pain and swelling post-surgery, but these symptoms typically diminish within a few days. Patients are advised to be careful when washing their ears and to do so gently. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid sports and heavy lifting for about a month after the surgery.
Ear surgery is an effective method for correcting ear deformities and helping patients regain their self-confidence.
Nose Surgery Using Piezo Technique
Nose surgery has become less invasive in recent years due to advancing technologies. The Piezo (ultrasonic) technique is a technology used in nose surgery for working on bone and cartilage. Thanks to this technology, surgical interventions are performed more precisely and accurately. Additionally, this method leads to a faster and more pain-free recovery process.
Piezo ultrasonic sound waves work without breaking the nasal bone and without traumatizing the soft tissue, blood vessels, and nerve structures. Previously, surgical tools were used to shape bone tissue through mechanical force, which sometimes resulted in unintended damage at fracture sites. However, with the Piezo method, we can shape the bone tissue precisely where we want it.
Using the Piezo method in nose surgery does not harm the soft tissue, nerves, or blood vessels. As a result, there is less bleeding and swelling during the recovery period, which increases patient satisfaction after the operation. The Piezo method allows for more controlled surgical procedures, leading to the creation of a beautiful and robust nasal structure that harmonizes with the face, significantly improving the success of the surgeries and reducing the number of revision surgeries.
I hold a European ENT Board certification and apply advanced techniques in Piezo (ultrasonic) nose surgery while keeping up with the latest developments in Europe.
